The global business market is valued at over $100T. Despite being a giant market, it is poorly represented by African companies, less than $2T. South Africa's Johanessburg Securities Exchange (JSE) is the largest stock exchange on the African continent but only the 19th largest in the world. It is valued at less than $1T. This means that the continent's 29 stock exchanges represent less than 2% of the global market. Given that most of the major international producers - Apple, Tesla, Nvidia, Nestlé, etc. - are dependent on the African continent's natural resources, how can there be such a huge discrepancy between our contribution and our remuneration?
Angola is a large, beautiful country with enormous potential. But it has a humble GDP of just $100B and unfortunately 95% of that is from oil revenues. The majority of the Angolan population still doesn't have access to basic necessities such as running water, electricity, education, health care, etc. This is evidenced by the poor performance in international indices of the population's living conditions. How is it possible that Angola, a territory so large and blessed by nature, with a population of 30M people produces only $100B a year when the world GDP is $100T!
In our humble view, the main cause of our social problems is the inadequate level of financial literacy in our communities. How many of us have a grasp of the most pertinent financial topics, such as - what is money, where does money come from, how to multiply money, what is the function of banking, where does inflation come from, how to predict inflation, the causes of bubbles in the markets, the mechanics of international finance, fundamentals of capital allocation, the power of compound interest, the power of intellectual property?
Website Creation and Business Consultancy are imperative if Angola is to seize the opportunities of the digital economy, reduce its dependence on oil revenues and increase its GDP.
It is therefore necessary to empower everyone in the Angolan population with the skills and technical knowledge that are useful in the digital economy we live in - maths, science, engineering, chemistry, finance, technology, programming, marketing and entrepreneurship.
